Ayurveda is the oldest known documented healthcare system, part of the broader Vedic knowledge body that is estimated to be 5,000 years old. Modern Indian scholars of Sanskrit culture (Sanskrit is the ancient Vedic language) have remarked that many of the modern concepts of nuclear physics and psychology are easy for them to grasp since they correspond with Sanskrit terminology. In addition to the profound wisdom of Vedic knowledge like Yoga, Ayurveda’s sister science, it includes highly detailed lifestyle guidelines, natural medicinal formulations, and treatment protocols for disease management.

Kerala Ayurveda’s commitment is to preserve and share this mind, body, and consciousness approach for the well-being of humanity. Ayurveda takes a holistic and preventative approach, empowering individuals to nurture their innate healing mechanisms to target the root of illness. Kerala Ayurveda’s lineage and breadth position the company to have a widespread and profound impact. One of the tenets of our growth is to ensure quality and safety standards in all verticals of our business: products, education, and wellness services.

Kerala Ayurveda Limited (KAL) was founded in 1945 by KGK Panicker, a renowned healer on the Periyar River in Cochin, Kerala, India. Over the decades, it grew from an apothecary and clinic to a full spectrum Ayurvedic business spanning academies, hospitals throughout India, award-winning retreats, and a FDA audited manufacturing facility with over 300 traditional Ayurvedic herbal products.

Kerala Ayurveda’s research and development is a pioneering force for studying and validating the power of Ayurvedic medicine with modern technology. The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) awarded KAL its first patent in 2022 for a uniquely processed proprietary herbal formulation, including the efficacy of the herbal composition in the management of metabolic syndrome disorders such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, and lipid profile management. Additionally, the patent covers the herbal composition’s use in the preparation of food supplements, pharmaceuticals, and nutraceuticals in appropriate dosage forms such as beverages/liquids, capsules, tablets, granules, jellies, and more.

Kerala Ayurveda USA is a 100% subsidiary of KAL and opened in Seattle, WA in 2006 as a wellness center with one 500-hour training program for practitioners. As the professional Ayurvedic industry grew in the U.S., program offerings were expanded, and the center relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Today, the Academy is one of the largest schools in the U.S. and is approved to operate in the states of CA and WA as well as for online training. The professional track offers three levels of professional certification in alignment with the National Ayurvedic Medical Associations’ standards, as well as short programs for continuing education, internships in India, and introductory courses. Over 2,000 students have taken Kerala Ayurveda USA’s programs across the nation as well as in international locations.

Kerala Ayurveda’s lineage is a keystone in an unlicensed healthcare professional climate in which the Ayurvedic teachings are subject to being watered down or infused with other traditions. Since assuming the role of Academy Director in 2010, it has been the prerogative of Vaidya. Jayarajan Kodikannath

to offer advanced clinical training in the U.S. to support skilled and competent professionals. Kerala Ayurveda offers a 75+ year company heritage with six generations of traceable knowledge. According to the ancient texts, 25% of the success of a patient interaction is based on the practitioner’s ability to select the correct herbal formulation. Employing well-trained faculty with clinical experience as Ayurvedic doctors (Vaidyas - BAMS degrees from India) is part of Kerala Ayurveda’s model to guarantee the accuracy of teachings.

Kerala Ayurveda’s commitment is to preserve and share this mind, body, and consciousness approach for the well-being of humanity.

From a product manufacturing perspective, the KAL network of Vaidyas, scientists, and researchers ensure optimal quality control and accuracy to the traditional preparation methods. Kerala Ayurveda Ltd. is proud to offer products with adherence to Prop 65, the most stringent quality controls set by the state of California. Ayurveda offers a unique approach to working with herbal medicine which addresses layers of subtle energy that contemporary science is just beginning to document in plant consciousness. To yield the most efficacious herbal formulation, the process begins with the sowing of the seed at the right season and time of day and continues with intentional care throughout the growth process to harvest. While the modern nutraceutical approach is to isolate and concentrate the active chemicals from the herbs, the traditional approach of Kerala Ayurveda is to harness the complete healing potential of plants including the healing material, energetics and the plant consciousness through ancient rituals and harvesting practices which has been followed by the lineage tradition of Kerala Ayurveda.

Especially as Ayurveda becomes more popular and its namesake is used for commercial products hitting mainstream retailers, it’s our continued mission at Kerala Ayurveda to train qualified practitioners to support health seekers and advise them on safe lifestyle and herbal practices. We’re also investing in more sustainable practices, which is vital for our planet, and true to the philosophy of nature-based Ayurveda. Our sustainability efforts are focused on reducing our environmental footprint and cutting waste everywhere we can. Over the past decade, the Academy & Wellness Center have become greener with increasing use of digital forms and course training manuals, as well offering more virtual classes and consultations. For products, we recently introduced new glass jars & bottles made from non-toxic raw materials (silica, sand, soda ash, limestone and up to 70% recycled glass).

Ayurveda is considered “slow medicine” - it does not provide quick fixes or bandaids, but with the right ingredients, dedication and patience, its methods build a strongly rooted foundation of health that can actually prevent future disease. This is true for the individual as well as the whole. The capacity to address personal as well as planetary health is a hallmark of an indigenous system, and we’re excited to continue exploring how modern medicine can validate and support this ancient wisdom.
